Way back in October we also went to the State Fair. It turned out to be a FREEZING cold morning. We ended up stopping at a Walmart in downtown Dallas (NOT recommended - yikes!) and buying everyone new winter coats, hats, and gloves. We all needed them anyway. We bundled everyone up and made our way through the biting wind and bitter cold to the State Fair. Poor Sawyer could barely move under all those layers!
We started out near the agriculture end of the Fair and quickly found an exhibit that was at least partially indoors. Little hands on the farm was a little pretend farm where the kids earned "money" by working on the farm - gathering eggs, picking vegetables from the garden, milking cows, planting the garden, etc. They loved it!
They got some play money at the end of all the chores that they were able to spend in the store there. They all got some Cheetos and Sawyer got some animal crackers.
The day finally started warming up around noon when the winds died down and the sun came out. We shed some layers and stopped to say hi to Big Tex.
Maddie and Ryley were big enough to try out the rock wall in one of the new car exhibit halls. Cash was a little bummed that he wasn't big enough.
They had a huge display of toy trains and all sorts of plants in the greenhouse along with some fun Halloween activities for the kids. They each got a little pumpkin that they were able to decorate.
The had a big display of some giant pumpkins and someone who was carving them on site. A weird talent, but a talent nonetheless.
It was a fun day at the fair. We ended with funnel cakes, ice cream, and fried cheesecake. I think every day should end that way!

Looks so fun...even the Texas Star ;) Now I'm feeling guilty for never taking my kids to the fair. Maybe we'll have to skip school and come with you guys next year!
