Cash turns 8!

My sweet Cashy turned 8 this past May.  How is this even possible?!

Another first for Cash was Twilight Camp!  This boy has been dreaming about Twilight Camp ever since Ryley’s first year several years ago.  They used to play “Twilight Camp” for weeks after Ryley would go.  He told me several times that this week was the best week of his life.  When we moved up to Melissa we found out that this ward doesn’t have a group that goes to Twilight Camp.  I was SO bummed because I knew how much Cash had been looking forward to this.  Luckily, Aunt Brianne said Cash could go with 4th ward so he was able to go after all and bonus - with a bunch of his old friends.  I’m so glad he got to go!

Eight things about Cash at 8:

1. He is the most imaginative kid. He is always making up games or stories or scenarios or book ideas, etc. He always has some idea or plan for something. He is also always thinking about his next big project or idea so that tends todivide his focus a little.  Too many ideas isn’t an easy gift to handle! ;)

2.  He is doing fantastically well in school.  He is way above grade level in reading and vocabulary.  He likes math and reading.  He has started taking piano lessons and is liking that too.  He has really taken a liking to Harry Potter (we’re reading the series as a family) and has made himself several wands and memorized several spells, along with his brother and sister.  He’s really good at memorizing things and is quick to memorize the scripture mastery we’re working on.  He is not a fan of writing when it’s part of his schoolwork but can usually be found carrying a notebook and pencil around.  

3.  He is still a little bundle of fears.  Fear of dogs, cats, or any other animal; fear/hatred of chocolate; and strangely - fear of muppets.  I think this really stems from his big imagination though.  It just goes into overdrive and it’s hard to get him back into reality sometimes.  He’s also our most dramatic kid.  It’s definitely easy to read his emotions by just looking at him.  He uses his whole body to show emotions.  

4.  He is a very sensitive kid on top of everything else too.  He is also the most forgiving and loving kid.  He is everyone’s friend.  He usually has an easygoing temperament but watch out, because he can totally snap.  It doesn’t happen very often and usually surprises me when it does because it’s so infrequent.  He’s been getting out his aggressions on the punching bag lately though and that seems to be a good outlet for him.  He is still one of my most affectionate kids, and I really hope he stays this way.  Unlikely, but a mom can hope!

5.  He’s such a good kid.  He LOVES Cub Scouts and loves working on achievements.  He got his uniform and Wolf book and everything else for his birthday.  He completed his Bobcat the next day and three days later he was almost done with his Wolf Badge.  He’s also been working on memorizing the Articles of Faith all on his own and gets upset when he can’t read his scriptures before bed or if we forget to say family prayers or do it without him.  

6.  Josh and I may or may not refer to him as Melman (from Madagascar) because he always has some ailment.  Especially if Ryley has mentioned some serious disease or parasite he read about for something - Cash probably has it.  Cash has, on more than one occasion, interrupted me in the middle of a Den Meeting (I am his Wolf Den Leader) or mid-lesson in school with a completely random question like, “Mom, will having plastic in your body kill you? Because I think I’ve eaten plastic.”  Uh. . . . 

7.  He loves playing video games and recently pooled his money with his siblings to buy a WiiU.  He also oves playing on his DS or playing Minecraft.  

8.  He is still pretty shy when he’s put in a new situation or meeting new people but he’s the life of the party after he warms up a little.  He always has us cracking up!

We love this kid so much and are so thankful that he is part of our family.
